Noa Boutique Hotel: sleeping in Galicia overlooking a castle in the middle of the sea

Places to relax and that can be used as a starting point for unforgettable holidays. In summer the sea is essential, and in winter it is a show, so we have fallen in love with the Noa Boutique Hotel, the place to sleep in Galicia overlooking a castle in the middle of the sea.

Located in an unbeatable place, in Santa Cruz, a few minutes from A Coruña, this new hotel with airs of small-large establishment rises just above the sea, with a view from the rooms and facilities that give guests and visitors the feeling Floating on the sea.

Recently opened, just with the beginning of summer, Noa is a hotel of experiences, with hospitality, sustainability, and commitment to the local as signs of identity. Start with the category of four stars and overlooking the beautiful Castle of Santa Cruz, which has its origins in 1595 and served to reinforce the protection of the Coruña bay by joining other existing ones such as San Antón. After losing its strategic value and falling into abandonment, the castle was bought by José Quiroga Pérez de Deza, husband of Emilia Pardo Bazán, to build a summer residence. His daughter, Blanca Quiroga, gave it to the army in 1939 to be used as a summer colony home of war orphans, and that was until 1978 when he became unemployed again. Today it is the headquarters of a center belonging to the University of A Coruña.

The objective of the Noa Boutique Hotel, which is born independently of the large hotel chains, is to become a reference in today’s Galicia, a quality destination for travelers seeking tranquility, nature, gastronomy, and culture. The nearly 5,000 m2 of the hotel, spread over three floors, include 32 rooms, a restaurant, an event space, a wellness center (with gym, spa, and massage area) and a terrace with a lounge bar.

The building, designed in straight and clean lines, integrates seamlessly into the landscape open to Oleiros Bay, a jewel to discover full of beaches, caves, cliffs, and forests. Among the main values of Noa, there are sustainability and commitment to this unique environment and its neighborhood. Conceived as one of the most environmentally friendly hotels in Galicia, it uses renewable energy and radiant flooring due to geothermal energy throughout the building, generates minimal plastic waste and has reduced water and paper consumption.

With the interior design, an intimate, sober and timeless style has been achieved, in which light wood and natural light predominate. The standard rooms are equipped with underfloor heating powered by geothermal energy, shower, separate bathtub, organic mattresses, 400g mercerized Egyptian cotton sheets, and own ecological amenities – six natural products made exclusively for Noa with an inspired fragrance in the Atlantic.

The rooms with sea views provide an experience that will make you not want to get out of bed: float on the sea with those unsurpassed views of the castle and the Coruña bay. Whether in a kind of canopy bed of royal forms that incorporates television at the foot of the bed or those that make you get bored of watching for the castle (if that can happen) you decide that television appears from between the feet of the bed. The bathtubs and sinks help to reinforce the decoration, integrating with the furniture.

On the ground floor, and with independent entrance, is its restaurant of traditional renovated cuisine, based on the local and seasonal product, directed by the Oleirian chef Carlos Cordero. The proposal, attractive and authentic, revolves around the best Galician raw material, treated with the utmost respect, and divides into two concepts: a gastronomic restaurant and a modern tavern with a tapas menu, rations, wines, and cellar beers, and Oceanfront terrace, much more casual.

Noa’s great hidden jewel is located on the rooftop: an infinity pool of hot water(tempered by renewable energy and unique in Galicia). In addition, both guests and the public not staying at the hotel can enjoy an exclusive roof-bar ideal for spending summer evenings on the terrace, with a snack menu and cocktails. Also on this top floor is the wellness and beauty center, the gym and the spa, with its massage area. The establishment is completed with a room of 400 m2 perfect for all kinds of events and with a boutique store where you can acquire, among other things, the cosmetic line of amenities and the hotel’s exclusive bedding, as well as gourmet products and local handicrafts.

An experience that makes access to the areas of enjoyment by the general public always full, enjoying the sun, the views, and reservations, with prices quite competitive to be a four-star hotel.
